SYMPTOMS Irritation | Discomfort
SIGNS Outward growth, usually pedunculated but sometimes sessile
WORK-UP Thorough history. Slit lamp examination
TREATMENT Observation or surgical removal with biopsy
FOLLOW-UP Frequent follow-up is not necessary unless noticeable change in size or shape occurs
ADDITIONAL LAB | TESTS Biopsy
ETIOLOGY Often of viral or non-viral origin - HPV is a common cause
DIFFERENTIAL DX Hordeolum | Squamous cell carcinoma | Sebaceous gland carcinoma
NOTES Strong association with HPV
