DOSAGE Conjunctivitis: 1-2 gtts q2-4hr x 2days, QID x 5 days
Corneal Ucler: Days 1-2: Instill 1 to 2 gtts q30mins while awake. Awaken at approximately 4 and 6 hours after retiring and instill 1 to 2 drops. Days 3-7: 1 to 2 gtts q1hr while awake. Days 7-9 through treatment completion: 1gtt QID

INDICATIONS OCUFLOX® ophthalmic solution is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of the following bacteria
MECHANISM OF ACTION fluoroquinolone (2nd) Binds bacterial DNA gyrase
MICROBIOLOGY Broad spectrum, effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa poor choice for chlamydia and mycoplasma.
Ofloxacin has been shown to be active against most strains of the following organisms both in vitro and clinically, in conjunctival and/or corneal ulcer infections AEROBES, GRAM-POSITIVE Staphylococcus aureus Staphylococcus epidermidis Streptococcus pneumoniae AEROBES, GRAM-NEGATIVE Enterobacter cloacae Haemophilus influenzae Proteus mirabilis Pseudomonas aeruginosa Serratia marcescens* ANAEROBIC SPECIES: Propionibacterium acnes
CONTRAINDICATIONS & WARNINGS OCUFLOX® solution is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to ofloxacin, to other quinolones, or to any of the components in this medication Excellent corneal penetration. Second-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotics were good topical agents due to wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, low toxicity, high potency, prolonged tear film concentration, and stability in solution.
PEDIATRIC USE 1 year and older
PREGNANCY No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Embryocidal in rats and in rabbits when given 9000 times the maximum daily ophthalmic dose
