INDICATIONS Cefaclor is indicated in the treatment of susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms. caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogene
MECHANISM OF ACTION second-generation cephalosporin
MICROBIOLOGY bactericidal action of cefaclor results from inhibition of cell-wall synthesis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS & WARNINGS contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics. There is some clinical and laboratory evidence of partial cross-allergenicity of the penicillins and the cephalosporins
PEDIATRIC USE Safety and effectiveness of this product for use in infants less than 1 month of age have not been established.
PREGNANCY Category B. No teratogenicity in rats at 12 times the normal human dose
NOTE No activity against Pseudomonas and methicillin-resistant staphylococci. Brand names Ceclor, Distaclor, Keflor, Raniclor
