DOSAGE Seasonal Allergic Conjunctivitis: 1 gtt BID for ocular itching
Post-Op Inflammation (Cataract): 1 gtt BID in operated eye (start 24 hrs PRIOR to surgery), day of surgery and then continue for 2 weeks

INDICATIONS ACUVAILĀ® ophthalmic solution is indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation following cataract surgery.
MECHANISM OF ACTION NSAID (Non-selective COX inhibitor): Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.
MICROBIOLOGY Ketorolac tromethamine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug which, when administered systemically, has demonstrated analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-pyretic activity. The mechanism of its action is thought to be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin biosynthesis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS & WARNINGS Delayed Healing, Epithelial breakdown, corneal thinning, corneal erosion, corneal ulceration or corneal perforation possible in susceptible patients.
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in the formulation. Possible cross-sensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid, phenylacetic acid derivatives, and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
PEDIATRIC USE Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.
PREGNANCY Category C Teratogenic Effects: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. ACUVAIL solution should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
NOTE BAK and edetate free. Carboxymethylcellulose increases comfort and extends contact period.
